Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) together with Association for Tourism (AfT) is organizing a clean-up campaign in Thamel on September 26 on the occasion of World Tourism Day (WTD). Office-bearers and members of AfT, tourism entrepreneurs and locals of Thamel are expected to participate in the program. The clean-up will begin from Sanchayakosh Building and progresses through Thamel Chowk, Kwabahal, JP School, Kathmandu Guesthouse, Vaishali Hotel, Bhagwatibahal and Thamel Chowk beforce concluding at Sanchayakosh Building. All participants will get a T-shirt bearing the slogan of World Tourism Day, 2011. Meanwhile, TAAN is launching four new trekking trails during a ceremony being organized to mark World Tourism Day on September 27. The trails being launched on the day are Nagi-Narchyang (Myagdi-Parbat), Dhorpatan (Myagdi-Baglung), Panchpokhari (Sindhupalchowk) and Lower Solukhumbu. The association is also unveiling maps and promotional materials like posters and documentaries of the new trail. The theme for this year’s World Tourism Day is – Tourism: Linking Cultures.
