TAAN supports PM’s Disaster Relief
Fund
Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has decided to
contribute Rs 101,111 to Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
At a press meet organized at TAAN Secretariat on Monday, TAAN
President Mahindra Singh Thapa said the association would hand over the amount
to Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai after the latter returns from New York.
The government mobilizes the fund to conduct rescue missions
and provide relief to people after natural disasters.
TAAN has been contributing to the fund on regular basis. In
2008, it had handed over Rs 333,333 to the fund, after Sapta Koshi River
wreaked havoc in Eastern Nepal.
Meanwhile, TAAN is launching four new trekking trails on the
occasion of World Tourism Day. TAAN is launching Nagi-Narchyang trail
(Myagdi-Parbat), Dhorpatan trail (Myagdi-Baglung), Panchpokhari trail
(Solukhumbu) and Lower Solu trail. The association will also make public maps
and documentaries of the new trails on the day. TAAN is also organizing a
clean-up campaign in Thamel area on the eve of World Tourism Day.
World Tourism Day is being celebrated on 27 September with
the theme of Tourism-Linking Cultures.
