The Department of Immigration (DoI) has decided to collect royalty from trekkers only for the period they are in controlled areas of Nepal. Earlier, the department was collecting royalty fee from trekkers heading to Kailash-Mansarovar of China via Simikot, Humla for the entire package period even though trekkers spend some days in China. A delegation of TAAN had met DoI officials last week and expressed dissatisfaction over such unjustifiable royalty collection. TAAN has also been lobbying with the department officials to refund the royalty fee that trekkers paid for the period they were in China.
