The new executive committee of Trekking Agencies’ Association
of Nepal (TAAN) assumed office amid a ceremony organized at TAAN Secretariat,
Maligaon on September 14.
Election Officer Tulsi Bhatta administered oath of office and
secrecy to newly elected President Mahindra Singh Thapa. Thapa later administered
oath of office and secrecy to other office-bearers and members of the new
executive committee.
Outgoing President Sitaram Sapkota handed over a symbolic key
of TAAN Secretariat to President Thapa. Similarly, outgoing secretary Nima
Dojree Sherpa handed over minute book of the association to new General Secretary
Mohan Lamsal and Treasurer Khum Bahadur Subedi handed over check books of TAAN
to new Treasurer Anjan Thapa.
Addressing the handover ceremony, President Thapa said his
team would give continuity to the programs initiated by the outgoing executive
committee. “I would like to assure all that the new executive committee will take
up problems in the industry with concerned government agencies,” Thapa added.
Outgoing President Sapkota urged the members of the new
committee to work as per the interest of TAAN member agencies.
Former presidents J P Singh and Jyoti Adhikari were also
present on the occasion.
The annual general meeting (AGM) of TAAN held on 5 September
had unanimously elected a new executive committee under Thapa’s leadership for
two-year term (2011-13). Other members in the committee are: Rana Bahadur
Khadka (1st Vice-President), Ambar Tamang (2nd
Vice-President), Mohan Lamsal (General Secretary), Anjan Thapa (Treasurer) and
D B Gurung as (Secretary). Similarly, Gopal Babu Shrestha, Ang Chhetar
Sherpa, Janak Prasad Pandey, Ram Bahadur Nepal Chhetri, Karma Sherpa, Rajendra
Prasad Subedi, Krishna Raj Bhattarai and Nima Lama are the members in the new
executive committee.
Meanwhile, the first meeting of the new executive committee
nominated Jangbu Sherpa to the post of Senior Vice President of TAAN as per the
direction of its AGM.
