Leading international broadcasters CNN and BBC will start
airing promotional materials of Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 campaign from
mid-December.
A meeting of NTY Implementation Committee held in Kathmandu on
Nov 14 also decided to conduct massive publicity campaigns in China and India.
The committee will spend a total of Rs 130 million for
publicity campaigns. Yogendra Shakya, coordinator of the NTY Implementation
Committee, said the committee said publicity contract with CNN and BBC is worth
Rs 40 million. “We are spending Rs 60 million in India and Rs 30 million in
China,” he added.
The meeting also decided to organize closing ceremony of NTY
2011 campaign in mid-January to coincided with the launch of Visit Lumbini 2012
and Vision 2020 campaigns.
