"Impressions of Manang" to be displayed
Nine Nepali artists are all set to embark on an artistic adventure against the backdrop of the mighty Annapurna.
“Impressions of Manang” is a two-week art workshop. Artists Sudarshan Bikram Rana, Sunita Rana, Hareram Jojiju “JoJu”, Bidhata K.C, Bikrant Man Shrestha, Himalaya Gautam, Erina Tamrakar, Rajendra K.C. and Prakash Chandwadhkar will be presenting their art works.
The exhibition is going to be organised from September 11-12 at the Nepal Tourism Board Hall, from September 14 to 20 at Singha Art Gallery at the Patan Industrial Estate and from September 27 to October 7 at NTB Pokhara.
As the artists trek through Besisahar, Jagat, Bahundanda, Dharapani, Tal, Chame, Timang, Pisang, Braga, Ghyaru, Ngawal, and Manang, they will capture on canvas – in acrylic, water colour and mixed media – their impressions of this remote region of Nepal.
Organized by Manang Youth Society a not-for-profit group of young, professional Manangis dedicated to improving the economic and social welfare of the people in the region by promoting sustainable tourism, “Impressions of Manang” is a prelude to Destination Manang 2007.
“We hope the works produced by the artists during their travel in Manang will reflect the culture, natural beauty, and uniqueness of the place and will encourage people to visit,” says MYS President Tripple P. Gurung. “We hope to exhibit the works locally and internationally.”
