Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) congratulated the newly elected executive committees of Village Tourism Promotion Forum-Nepal (VITOF-Nepal) and Gurung Tourism Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (GTEAN) at separate functions organized at TAAN Secretariat in Maligaun, Kathmandu, on Monday.
TAAN President Chandra Prasad Rijal congratulated VITOF Nepal President Ram Prasad Sapkota 'Kamal' by offering bouquet and khadas. He also congratulated other office-bearers and executive members by offering khadas.
VITOF Nepal 1st Vice President Ram Ghale, 2nd Vice President Deepak Dahal, General Secretary Basudev Pandey, Secretary Jastha Pandey and Joint Treasurer Krishna Bahadur Subedi were present at the program. Similarly, executive members Sanjiv Shrestha, Kul Prasad Subedi, Janga Bahadur Lama and Prakash Aryal were present in the program.
Welcoming the VITOF Nepal team, TAAN Executive Member Wangchu Sherpa said TAAN and VITOF Nepal should join hands for promotion of tourism in rural parts of the country. "We are looking to forge long-term partnership," Sherpa, who is also the coordinator of TAAN's Village Tourism & Homestay Department, said: "We will move forward by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)."
TAAN General Secretary Karna Bahadur Lama said TAAN was committed to make the partnership with VITOF Nepal more meaningful in the coming days.
Speaking at the program, VITOF Nepal President Ram Prasad Sapkota 'Kamal' said TAAN and VITOF Nepal must work together for tourism promotion in rural areas. "We highly appreciate TAAN's decision to forge long-term partnership with us by signing a MoU. It will be a milestone in village tourism promotion," he added.
Presiding over the program, TAAN President Rijal said VITOF Nepal is a key stakeholder of Nepali tourism industry. "You have expertise in village tourism promotion, and we have resources. Together we can take tourism to rural villages of the country," he added.
NEW TEAM OF GTEAN WELCOMED
TAAN Executive Committee welcomed the new Executive Committee of Gurung Tourism Entrepreneurs Association (GTEAN) amid a function. TAAN President Chandra Rijal welcomed GTEAN President Kamala Gurung by offering bouquets and khadas.
TAAN Executive Committee also felicitated Immediate Past President Kul Bahadur Gurung, Vice President Ambir Gurung, General Secretary Ishwar Bahadur Gurung, Secretary Him Bahadur Ghale and Treasurer Lila Bahadur as well as Executive Members Kishan Raj Gurung, Pitambar Gurung, Dhan Prasad Gurung, Fal Bahadur Gurung, Jaya Bahadur Gurung, Prem Bahadur Gurung, Binda Gurung, Baburam Gurung and Mahabir Gurung.
GTEAN Advisors Tikaram Gurung and Dhana Bahadur Gurung were felicitated at the program.
On the occasion, GTEAN handed over a letter of appreciation to the TAAN Executive Committee.
TAAN Executive Committee Member Sarita Lama, who is also the coordinator of Inter-Relation Department, welcomed the GTEAN team, stating that TAAN was eager to forge partnership with GTEAN.
Similarly, TAAN 1st Vice President Tej Bahadur Gurung said GTEAN has long partnered with TAAN to host Lhosar festival. "We have plans to take this partnership to a new height in the days to come," he added.
Thanking TAAN Executive Committee for such a wonderful gesture, Kul Bahadur Gurung said they were looking for TAAN's support to develop and promote Gurung Heritage Trail in Nuwakot district.
GTEAN President Kamala Gurung said her association was looking for long-term partnership with TAAN.
Concluding the program, TAAN President Chandra Prasad Rijal thanked the GTEAN team for accepting their invitation. "Together we should address burning issues of the tourism industry," he added.
TAAN Secretary Mukti Pandey and Executive Members Sarita Lama, Wangchu Sherpa, Nawang Nima Sherpa, Sangam Sherpa, Taranath Lamichhane 'Dinesh', Dambar Bahadur Adhikari, Shital Chandra Dharel, Surya Bahadur Ghimire and Dawa Lamang Tamang were present at the program.
