UAAA grants 'observer member' status to TAAN

Union of Asian Alpine Associations (UAAA) has granted 'observer member' status to Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN).

The 21st General Assembly of UAAA held from October 20-25 in Seoul, Korea took the decision. TAAN had applied for UAAA membership during the General Assembly of UAAA held in Tokyo, Japan, in 2014.

Immediate Past President Ramesh Prasad Dhamala had attended the meeting on behalf of TAAN.

"I briefed the UAAA delegates about TAAN, its objectives and the activities that it has been doing to promote and develop adventure tourism in Nepal. The General Assembly then decided to grant 'observer member' status to TAAN," said Dhamala.

The 22nd General Assembly of UAAA will be held in Nepal.

UAAA is the umbrella organization of alpine associations in Asian countries.
