The executive committee of Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) organized an introductory meeting with the representatives of different trade unions of trekking workers at TAAN Secretariat in Maligaun on November 3.
Representatives of four trade unions – Nepal Trekking, Travel, Rafting Workers Union (UNITRAV), Nepal Tourism Workers Association, All Nepal Tourism Workers Union, and All Nepal Tourism Workers Union (Revolutionary) – were present in the meeting which was chaired by TAAN President Chandra Prasad Rijal.
The two sides discussed different aspects of Nepali adventure tourism industry. Speaking at the program, representatives of tourism worker unions urged TAAN leadership to ensure social security of tourism workers. They also asked TAAN for early implementation of welfare fund for tourism workers through Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS).
"It was an introductory meeting. The two sides held talks in a very friendly environment and agreed to work jointly for development and promotion of Nepal's adventure tourism sector," TAAN General Secretary Karna Bahadur Lama said.
