TAAN helping build learning centers in quake-hit areas

Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) is deploying trekking and mountaineering workers as well as local people to transport construction materials to build Semi-permanent Learning Centers in Ree VDC of Dhading district.

Construction materials for the purpose have been donated by different NGOs and INGOs.

As many as 1,084 workers are being used for the purpose. The transportation, which began on September 7, is estimated to be completed within 7-9 days. The construction materials are stored at the base camp located near a hydropower station at Rigne of Salyankot VDC. Transportation cost is borne by World Food Programme (WFP).

Earlier, TAAN, together with WFP, cleared community trails and transported relief materials for earthquake survivors in different parts of Dhading, Gorkha and Rasuwa districts by using trekking and mountaineering workers as well as local people.
